Doping - Sanctions on Stam and Guardiola extended worldwide

Zürich, 6 February 2002 - The FIFA Disciplinary Committee met yesterday, 5 February 2002, in Zurich and decided to extend worldwide the sanctions imposed on 24 January 2002 by the Italian Football League’s Disciplinary Committee on the Dutch player Jakob Stam (S.S. Lazio) and the Spanish player Josep Guardiola (Brescia Calcio) after they had been tested positive for nandrolone in national league matches.

Consequently, Stam and Guardiola are suspended for all matches, including friendly games, for five and four months respectively, starting from 22 November 2001.
