ESTONIA - SCOTLAND TO BE PLAYED IN MONACO

Zurich, 27 November 1996 - The World Cup Group 4 qualifying match between Estonia and Scotland is to be played in Monaco on Tuesday 11 February 1997.

The exact kick-off time for the match in the Louis II stadium in Monaco (capacity 18,500 spectators) has yet to be fixed.

The Estonia-Scotland match had originally been scheduled for 9 October but was not played because the Estonia team did not arrive at the time appointed by FIFA. The Organising Committee for the FIFA World Cup decided the match should be re-scheduled but the two parties could not agree on a venue.

The Bureau of the Organising Committee therefore applied article 4, par. 8 of the World Cup regulations which gives the Committee the authority to decide in such a case.

The Estonia Football Association will be responsible for the arrangements of the match, while the French Football Federation agreed to FIFA's request for assistance with logistical arrangements.

FIFA had earlier announced that it would cover the costs of the official Scottish team delegation to the re-arranged match.
