BOGOTA, Colombia, Oct 27 (Reuters) - Colombian striker Geovanny Cordoba died on Sunday three days after he was struck by lightning that killed another soccer player during a training session, medical officials said.
Cordoba, 24, of Deportivo Cali, died in a hospital in the southern city of Cali where he had been admitted in critical condition. Former international midfielder Hermann Gaviria died on Thursday when the lightning struck the soccer filed where Deportivo Cali players were training in a downpour.
Hundreds of Deportivo fans, many of them weeping, gathered outside the club and chanted the names of Cordoba and Gaviria on Sunday. Deportivo did not play on Sunday in the country's soccer championship as a sign of respect.
