Football is a way of life for the people of Argentina that started at the beginning of the 19th century, when English sailors moored their ships in the port of Buenos Aires to venture inland and lay the foundations of the railroad. Although they did not realise it, the sport that they played so enthusiastically during their free time had caught on among the local people. Clubs and teams began to spring up all over the country.
