Balakov to play against Germany in Bulgaria friendly

SOFIA, Aug 6 (Reuters) - Bulgaria coach Plamen Markov has called up playmaker Krassimir Balakov of German club VfB Stuttgart for the friendly international against Germany in Sofia on August 21.

Striker Svetoslav Petrov from Portsmouth is not among the 12 foreign-based players Markov has selected for the game.

The rest of the squad will come from local clubs and will be announced later.

Defenders: Predrag Pazhin (Beijing Guoan, China), Ivailo Petkov (Istanbulspor), Radostin Kishishev (Charlton Athletic), Milen Petkov (AEK Athens)
Midfielders: Stilian Petrov (Celtic), Georgi Peev (Dynamo Kiev), Krassimir Balakov (Stuttgart)
Strikers: Zoran Jankovic (Dalian Shide, China), Martin Petrov (Wolfsburg), Dimitar Berbatov (Bayer Leverkusen), Vladimir Manchev (Lille), Georgi Ivanov (Stade Rennes).
