The Organising Committee for the 2001 FIFA Confederations Cup chaired by FIFA Vice-President Issa Hayatou has approved the match dates and venues for this competition, which is due to take place from Wednesday 30 May to Sunday 10 June 2001.

In Korea, the event will be contested in Daegu, Ulsan and Suwon, whereas matches in Japan are due to be played in Yokohama, Niigata and Ibaraki (see draft schedule). Kick-off times of will be approved at the next meeting of the committee on 13 March.

The opening game will take place in Daegu and the final in Yokohama, as will be the case at the 2002 FIFA World Cup".

For the draw, which will be held at the Lotte Hotel on Jeju Island (Seogwipo-City) at 6.00 pm on 4 April, Korea will be seeded as team A2 and Japan as team B3.
