TUNIS, June 17 (Reuters) - Tunisia qualified for the 2002 African Nations Cup finals on Sunday after a 4-1 victory over 10-man Kenya in group three. The Tunisian strikers missed a string of chances during the opening half-hour, but the turning point came in the 31st minute when Algerian referee Kamal Barbar sent off Kenyan defender Waweru Japhet for a foul.

Striker Ali Zitouni put the Tunisians ahead two minutes later and Ziad Jaziri added two more before the break.

Kenya were let down by poor finishing, with Odhambo Kennedy missing their best chances early in the first against new Tunisian goalkeeper Khaled Aziez. The keeper replaced veteran Chokri el Ouaer who was suffering from a slipped disc.

Mulama Simon pulled one back for the visitors in the 61st minute, but Zitouni bagged his second of the match a minute later. Tunisia and Morocco will go through from the group to the 16-team finals in Mali next January.
