FIFA President Joseph S. Blatter will be attending the OFC Extraordinary Congress on Saturday, 3 August 2002 in Auckland. He is set to arrive in New Zealand on Friday, 2 August.

This is the first visit of the FIFA President to Oceania since his re-election on 29 May in Seoul (Korea).

On the agenda for the OFC Extraordinary Congress is the election of the President as well as the OFC representative on the FIFA Executive Committee. The current President is Basil Scarsella (Australia) and the FIFA representative is Adrian Wickham (Solomon Islands).

Both Mr Scarsella and Mr Wickham have been nominated again for re-election.

OFC Vice President, Johnny Tinsley-Lulu from Vanuatu, and OFC Treasurer, Tautulu Roebeck from Samoa, have also been nominated for the OFC Presidency. Dr Mohammed Samsud-Din Sahu Khan from Fiji and Mr 'Ahongalu Fusimalohi from Tonga have also been nominated for the position of OFC representative on the FIFA Executive Committee.

A press conference will be held immediately after the Congress at the Stamford Plaza Hotel in Auckland City. The Congress will start at 9:00 am and is tentatively set to finish at 11:00 am. The press conference, which will start at approximately 11:15 am, will include the FIFA President, Joseph S. Blatter, and the OFC President-elect.
