JOHANNESBURG, July 4 (Reuters) - South Africa have recalled veteran midfielder Doctor Khumalo for this month's World Cup qualifier against Malawi to give him a 50th cap in his benefit year, officials said on Wednesday.

Khumalo, 34, who was a member of the squad which won the 1996 African Nations Cup, played the last of his 49 internationals against Jamaica in a friendly in 1999. The match in Durban on July 14 is of academic interest only, with South Africa already having qualified for the 2002 World Cup finals in Japan and South Korea.

Coach Carlos Queiroz named a 20-man squad, which features seven of the men who played against Burkina Faso last weekend. South Africa drew that match 1-1 away in Ouagadougou to qualify for the World Cup finals.

Squad:

Goalkeepers
Andre Arendse (Santos), Brian Baloyi (Kaizer Chiefs), Abram Khwenenyane (Ria Stars)
Defenders
Craig Bianchi (Hellenic), Matthew Booth (Mamelodi Sundowns), David Kannemeyer (Ajax Cape Town), Fabian McCarthy (Mamelodi Sundowns), Themba Mnguni (Mamelodi Sundowns), Andrew Rabutla (Jomo Cosmos)
Midfielders
Doctor Khumalo (Kaizer Chiefs), Bennett Mnguni (Mamelodi Sundowns), Sipho Ndzuzo (Manning Rangers), Josep Ngake (Orlando Pirates), Dillon Sheppard (Ajax Cape Town), Sibusiso Zuma (FC Copenhagen, Denmark), Teboho Mokoena (Jomo Cosmos)
Strikers
Bradley August (Lyngby, Denmark), Benni McCarthy (Celta Vigo, Spain), Nkosinathi Nhleko (Jomo Cosmos), Abram Raselemane (Santos).
