LONDON (Reuters) - David Seaman is intent on winning a place in England's World Cup squad after recovering from a serious shoulder injury.
The 38-year-old Arsenal goalkeeper has been out of action for four months after surgery, but could press for a first team return if he comes through a reserve team fixture for the English premier league club next week.
"It is obviously good to be playing again," Seaman told local newspaper the Highbury and Islington Express. "The World Cup has been at the back of my mind and that is why I wanted to get (my shoulder) completely right this time."
Seaman last played for Arsenal on September 26. He faces competition for a place at both club and country level from Arsenal and England keeper Richard Wright, who has also just returned from injury.
