ABIDJAN, June 26 (Reuters) - Former captain Cyril Domoraud has been recalled to the Ivory Coast squad for the first time in more than a year for Sunday's World Cup qualifier at home to Madagascar, officials said on Tuesday.
The Bastia defender, previously with French clubs Bordeaux and Marseille as well as Italy's Inter Milan, has not played for the Ivorian team since their early elimination from the 2000 African Nations Cup finals in Ghana.
The Ivorians play against Madagascar in Abidjan on Sunday, needing a win to maintain their hopes of qualifying for the World Cup finals for the first time. They will, however, be without Dutch-based striker Bonaventure Kalou for the match. Ivory Coast lie second in group D with 10 points, three points behind leaders Tunisia. The Ivorians, however, have a game in hand and only the top side in each of the African World Cup qualifying groups will advance to the finals in Japan and South Korea next year.
