JOHANNESBURG, July 3 (Reuters) - A digest of African soccer stories over the last few days:

MOROCCO
Former French international Alain Giresse has been appointed coach of Morocco's Royal Armed Forces, officials said on Tuesday. Giresse will take over the team on July 15 when the club start their pre-season preparations. He replaces Belgian Henri Depireaux. Giresse has twice coached French club Toulouse and also had a brief spell at Paris St Germain. He is the second Frenchman to sign as coach of a Moroccan club in recent months. Compatriot Ladislas Lozano has taken over at Wydad Casablanca.

SOUTH AFRICA
Ted Dumitru has returned to South African club Mamelodi Sundowns to lead their campaign in the African Champions League just days after resigning his post as coach of the Namibian national side, officials announced on Monday. The veteran Romanian-born coach previously took Sundowns to two successive South African league titles in 1998 and 1999. Sundowns, who narrowly failed to qualify for the Champions League final last year, start their campaign next month at home to favourites Esperance of Tunisia. Dumitru, previously national team coach in Zambia and Swaziland, walked out on the Namibians on the eve of their World Cup match against Algeria after clashing with officials over a player he wanted suspended for disciplinary reasons.

MAURITIUS
AS Port Louis 2000 upset Mauritian championship leaders Olympique de Moka in the final of the Indian Ocean island's Republic Cup, winning 2-1 at Belle Vue on Sunday. Two early goals set Port Louis on their way, with Mike Kayava scoring in the seventh minute and international striker Mikael Badal adding a second before the half-hour mark. Moka replied 13 minutes into the second half through Christopher Perle in front of a paltry crowd of 600.
