BRUSSELS, March 5 (Reuters) - Injured Belgium striker Bob Peeters is likely to miss the World Cup through injury, a newspaper reported on Tuesday.

The French language daily La Derniere Heure said Peeters, who was injured during a training session on February 7, will have an operation on his left foot.

With up to two months' recuperation, Peeters will miss out on the tournament hosted in South Korea and Japan.

Peeters, 28, who also plays for Dutch club Vitesse Arnhem, scored four goals for Belgium during the World Cup qualifying. He has earned 12 caps.

The Red Devils' World Cup campaign kicks off against Japan in Saitama on June 4, before they take on Tunisia in Oita on June 10 and Russia in Shizuoka on June 14.
