A FIFA delegation, led by Jack A. Warner, Chairman of the FIFA U-17 World Championship Committee, has just returned from an inspection in Finland, where this competition will next be staged from 13 to 30 August 2003.

Call it football diplomacy - 36 years after North Korea's 1966 FIFA World Cup" side overcame massive odds to beat Italy 1-0, the team's surviving members have set off on a journey back to Middlesbrough, England, the city that hosted the Cup's biggest ever upset.
Their long-awaited reunion tour stopped in Beijing en route from Pyongyang on Sunday.

Defending champions Iran won the Asian Games men's football title for the fourth time with a 2-1 victory over Japan on Sunday after second-half goals from Javad Kazemeyan and Mohsen Bayatiniya.
Kazemeyan pounced on a mix-up between Hikaru Mita and substitute Takeshi Aoki to rifle home a right-foot shot from the edge of the box three minutes into the second half at Pusan Main Asiad Stadium. It was his first goal of the tournament.

France, Turkey and England score important wins

European champions France maintained their perfect start to their Euro 2004 qualifying campaign when they crushed Slovenia 5-0 at the Stade de France on Saturday.
Of the other probable contenders for the European title in Portugal in 2004, England overcame a shaky start to win 2-1 in Slovakia, Turkey did the same to win 2-1 in Macedonia and Italy, runners-up to France in Euro 2000 two years ago, were held to a 1-1 draw by Yugoslavia in Naples.

FIFA Statutes Revision Committee to set ball rolling
The FIFA Statutes Revision Committee will meet for the first time in Zurich on Sunday 3 and Monday 4 November 2002. This committee, set up by the FIFA Executive Committee at its last meeting on 23-24 September, will be responsible for reviewing, amending and changing the existing FIFA Statutes. 11 Oct 2002

FIFA supports the harmonisation of standards for artificial turf
As part of the joint efforts of FIFA and UEFA in supporting the development of artificial turf, a FIFA delegation will attend the annual meeting of the International Association for Sports Surface Sciences (ISSS), which will be held on 10th and 11th October at UEFA headquarters, in Nyon, Switzerland. 09 Oct 2002
