Vietnam appoint Frenchman Letard as under-23 coach

HANOI, Jan 31 (Reuters) - Frenchman Christian Letard will coach Vietnam's under-23 team but the senior side are still searching for a manager.

Vietnam Football Federation (VFF) vice chairman Tran Duy Ly told Reuters on Thursday that Letard had agreed a deal and the VFF expected him to sign a contract in early March.

The VFF has been looking for a foreign coach for the under 23 team for several months. Last month Frenchman Rene Le Lamer turned down the job after his wage demands were rejected.

Vietnam have had no senior coach since Brazilian Dido Silva, the country's fifth foreign manager in as many years, was fired last September after the under 23 team failed to win a medal at the South East Asian Games in Malaysia.
