ROME, Jan 25 (Reuters) - Inter Milan midfielder Luigi Di Biagio believes team mate Christian Vieri is already on World Cup alert.
Vieri, who scored five goals in the last World Cup, is expected to lead the line again for the Azzurri in this year's finals.
Vieri has been on fire since returning from an Achilles injury, scoring a total of 13 goals in 11 Serie A games and a hat-trick in a UEFA Cup match.
His goals have helped Inter Milan to the top of the table but Di Biagio believes he has his sights set on bigger prizes.
"Bobo (Vieri) seems to me to be at the same level as at France 98, when he was devastating." said Di Biagio, quoted in Friday's Gazzetta Dello Sport.
"Evidently he's starting to smell the air of the World Cup, a smell that he knows well."
