COPENHAGEN, Jan 25 (Reuters) - Keld Bordinggaard has been appointed as assistant coach of Denmark, the Danish soccer association's website reported on Friday.
Bordinggard, 39, will replace current assistant Michael Laudrup on July 1 after the World Cup finals in Japan and South Korea.
"The idea is that he shall start after the World Cup and not be active as coach during the first half of this year," head coach Morten Olsen said on the website.
"That way he'll get the same chances both I and Michael got to prepare himself for the job." Bordinggaard won four caps and played for Danish superleague teams OB, Silkeborg and Vejle.
Denmark have been drawn in group A at the World Cup finals in May and June alongside world champions France, Senegal and Uruguay.
