Dutch captain de Boer satisfied with Euro 2004 draw

AMSTERDAM, Jan 25 (Reuters) - Dutch captain Frank de Boer says he is satisfied with his team's 2004 European Championship qualifying draw which pits them against the Czech Republic.

"I would rather play against the Czech Republic than more established footballing countries," the Barcelona defender was quoted as saying by Dutch news agency ANP on Friday.

The Netherlands, who like the Czechs missed out on World Cup qualification, also drew Austria, Belarus and Moldova in group three.

"Austria used to be quite a decent footballing nation but they have gone downhill a bit," De Boer, who made his Dutch national team debut in 1990, told ANP.

Around 82 percent of Dutch football fans who answered questions in a poll on the Dutch football association (KNVB) website said the draw in Porto was favourable.

The finals of the tournament will be held in Portugal.
