LONDON, Jan 24 (Reuters) - England defender Wes Brown will begin his belated race for a World Cup place when he turns out for a Manchester United reserve team on Thursday.
The 22-year-old, who has not played since injuring a knee on December 1, will be returning to action earlier than planned when he appears in a Manchester Senior Cup match against Oldham Athletic.
Brown has four England caps and looked a certainty for the World Cup squad until suffering the ligament injury.
"I've got to concentrate my thoughts on getting back in the Manchester United team before I can think about England," he said last week.
